7 Reasons why you should move to Loudoun County

Are you thinking of moving to Virginia, but you aren’t sure what area to live in? Here are 7 reasons why Loudoun County might be a perfect fit for you:

1.       Great schools. Loudoun County Public Schools service around 70,000 students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. LCPS is the 5th largest public school system in Virginia. Almost all of Loudoun County’s eligible High Schools are continuously included in the top 1,000 high schools in America. For post-secondary education, there are plenty of options around the Loudoun County area including Northern Virginia Community College, George Mason University, Marymount University, and more.

2.       Plenty of golf courses. If you love to golf, then Loudoun County is the perfect place to live! Loudoun County has several well-known golf courses including Trump National Golf Club, 1757 Golf Club, Raspberry Falls Golf Club, and many more. Like several of these golf courses, Raspberry Falls Golf Club has received several awards including Top 20 Public or private courses in Virginia from Gold Digest and Top 10 in the Mid-Atlantic from Golf Monthly.

3.       Several award-Winning Wineries and Breweries. There is a reason why Loudoun has been nicknamed “DC’s Wine Country.” Loudoun County features more than 40 wineries and tasting rooms that have all received awards, as well as 30 craft breweries, and a handful of cideries and distilleries. This wide selection of wineries and breweries makes it easy to try a new one every time!

4.       A booming economy. Virginia attracts a lot of employees from the tech industry, with it having the second-highest concentration of technology workers in the nation. Fun fact: Did you know that more than 70% of the world’s internet traffic passes through Loudoun County daily? In terms of agriculture, Loudoun County also has nearly 1,400 farms which total more than 135,000 acres. Loudoun’s booming economy is just another reason why this county is such a great place to live.

5.       Countless transportation options. Many people who work in Washington D.C. or frequently visit D.C. prefer to live in Northern Virginia for more space and affordable housing options. This means that affordable transportation from Loudoun County to D.C. has expanded over the years, making public transportation in Loudoun County extremely accessible for everyone. The Silver Line Metro currently runs in Fairfax County and Arlington County, the closest stop to Loudoun County being Wiehle-Reston East Station. The metro line is scheduled to expand to have two stops in Loudoun County and run through to Dulles Airport. While the metro is expanding, Loudoun County also has several commuter buses to major cities like Rosslyn, Crystal City, the Pentagon, and Washington D.C. Loudoun also has local bus routes that go from Purcellville through Leesburg and eastern Loudoun County. There are also Metro Connection buses which go from park and ride lots in Loudoun to the Wiehle-Reston East and West Falls Church Metro stations in the morning and back to Loudoun in the afternoon.

6.       The area’s fascinating history. If you are interested in learning more about the history of the Civil War, Loudoun County has a few must-see spots. Ball’s Bluff Battlefield Regional Park has several different hiking trails and also features one of the smallest national cemeteries in the country. There is a lot to learn about the 1861 Battle of Ball’s Bluff while you are visiting this historic landmark. There are several historic buildings that are almost 150 years old to check out in Downtown Leesburg including Tuscarora Mill Restaurant and Lightfoot Restaurant. While you’re in Loudoun make sure to spend a night at Red Fox Inn & Tavern which was established in 1728 and is the oldest continually operating inn in the United States.

7.       Plenty of great shopping spots. Loudoun has a uniquely diverse shopping scene featuring outlet malls, traditional malls, and several small boutiques. Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets features more than 100 designer and name-brand outlet stores. If you’re looking for a more traditional mall then Dulles Town Center which is located just minutes away from Dulles Airport is the perfect place to get some weekend shopping done. If you’re looking for an outdoor shopping center that has grocery shops, dining options, and various entertainment options then Loudoun County has plenty of outdoor shopping center options as well. One Loudoun, Leesburg Village, and Brambleton Town Center are just a few of the additional shopping options that Loudoun has to offer.

All of these reasons help illustrate that Loudoun County is continuously thriving and expanding by the day, making it the perfect place for families and individuals to move to.
